ATTORNEY GENERAL IS ORDERED TO REPAIR THE DAMAGE THAT WAS CAUSED TO OUR CLIENT, HAVING BEEN UNJUSTLY SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS IN PRISON FOR ALLEGEDLY COMMITTING FOUR HOMICIDES

In 1988, five judicial officers of the Attorney General of the Federal District brutally murdered four teenagers. Two of them were children of important activists of the presidential campaign of Cuauhtemoc Cárdenas. The Attorney General attributed the killings to two innocent people who were sentenced to 16 years in prison. Against this background, in 2006, Rusconi & Sauza promoted a proceeding for the recognition of innocence of our client, which was resolved favorably by the Fifth Criminal Tribunal of Mexico City’s Judiciary. Consequently, in 2007, sponsored by Rusconi & Sauza, our customer sued the Attorney General for the repairing of the damage that was caused. After six years of litigation, on June 13th, 2013, the trial was won on appeal. The Seventh Civil Tribunal of Mexico City’s Judiciary ordered the Attorney General to pay our client lost profits throughout the time he was deprived of his freedom, plus compensation for moral damage that was caused by having been convicted and imprisoned unfairly.
